Dr. Sue Snow,
Georgia Department of Education,
recently announced the next phase of training on the Georgia
Performance Standards for high school mathematics. Training will
follow the same model as Mathematics 1 with tasks taken from
Mathematics 2. This training will be conducted by GaDOE.

May 28, 29, and 30, 2008;
Day 4 is scheduled for November 18, 2008
Day 5 is scheduled for January 13, 2009 |

All sessions will be held at the Coastal Georgia Center
in Savannah Note: If there is another site closer
to your system or if you prefer other dates noted in the
GaDOE announcement, you may be able register with another
agency on a space available basis. |
| Registration Fee: |
$100 per participant for May 28, 29, and 30, 2008
(includes daily refreshments, lunch on-site, and helps
defray cost of meeting rental). |

FDRESA will hold spaces for four teachers per high school in our
service area until April 15, 2008.

GaDOE requests that teachers attend as a team and that the
team include one teacher of students with disabilities.

GaDOE requests that participants should be teachers who will
teach GPS mathematics during 2008-2009.

Team may include teachers who attended training in 2007-2008,
teachers who will coordinate GPS implementation, or teachers who
will need training for Mathematics 2 or Accelerated Mathematics
1.

Please register (with administrator approval) the four
teachers who will most benefit the school's implementation of
GPS high school mathematics.

All four teachers need to attend training at the same location
on the same dates.

Teachers will need to register for three separate sessions (Days
1-3, Day 4, and Day 5)
GaDOE
will also provide training to grade 8 teachers who will teach
Mathematics 1 or Accelerated Mathematics 1. In order to meet
group size limits and to accommodate appropriate teachers, FDRESA is
asking that one grade 8 teacher per middle school register only
if the school will offer Mathematics 1 or Accelerated Mathematics 1
in the 2008-2009 school year.
