FDRESA GaTAPP - 2 Cohorts per Fiscal Year

Summer Cohorts begin in July. 

  • Completed applications are due by June 13.

  • Summer cohorts begin with the Essentials of Effective Teaching course.

  • This course is held for 2 weeks just after the 4th of July holiday.

 

Winter Cohorts begin in January. 

  • Completed applications are due by December 1.

  • Winter cohorts begin with Orientation.

  • Orientation is held on 4 evenings just after the New Year's Day holiday.

  • Winter cohorts must attend the complete Essentials of Effective Teaching course held the following July.

 

 

  1. Classes will be a mixture of face-to-face and online formats. Online classes will be live and synchronous. 

  2. Attendance is mandatory. Candidates will need a computer with audio and video and Internet access. 

  3. Candidates should prepare to devote their full attention to the classes for the entire time and prepare an appropriate place to work in online groups without distractions. 

  4. Textbooks are provided for checkout as a part of tuition.

  5. Candidates may attend Essentials as an option prior to securing a teaching position. For details, click the "Essentials Course Only Option" button above.

We are now accepting applications for the FY23 Winter Cohort.

Complete the application process as soon as possible.

Final deadline is Monday, December 5th, for completed application.

Book information for Summer Essentials

We have books to loan or you may buy your own. 

If you choose to buy your own, you must have them on the first day of class.

If you are required to take the Exceptional Child course (HB 671),

you will need the following book:

Hallahan, Daniel P. and Kauffman, James M., Exceptional Learners An Introduction to Special Education, 14th Edition. (You may also use 12th edition or higher)

 

You can purchase a used copy online fairly cheap from Half.com or Amazon.com. Another option would be to rent a book from places such as: www.bookrenter.com, textbookrentals.com, etc

FDRESA does not have any of these to loan. You will have to buy your own.
