  This School-Based Literacy Coach session will provide opportunities for coaches to learn, reflect, collaborate, and apply their learning to their work within their schools. Coaches will engage in new learning, have time to process and discuss the information, and apply it through relevant scenarios and real-world coaching situations. Breakout sessions will provide opportunities to dig deeper into specific areas based on individual needs while building practical tools and strategies to support their work.

  It’s time to REIGNITE the WRITE! Building on last year’s Ignite the Write, this interactive session moves from understanding effective writing instruction to seeing it in action. Participants will break into grade-band groups to experience and unpack an explicit, systematic approach to teaching writing—from teacher modeling and guided practice to supported application and increasing student independence. Rather than simply assigning writing, we’ll examine how teachers can intentionally model the thinking, decision-making, and processes successful writers use. Participants will experience practical strategies for sentence-level writing, planning, drafting, revising, and responding to feedback, with instruction calibrated to the developmental expectations of their grade band (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12). Teachers will leave with a clearer picture of what explicit writing instruction looks like, practical routines they can immediately implement, and strategies for gradually releasing the work so that students become increasingly confident and independent writers.
