What you’ll study

The program includes 160 contact hours (16 PLUs): four courses of 40 contact hours (4 PLUs) each, six lessons per course. Courses are delivered online through D2L Brightspace, with field and leadership activities in the candidate’s professional setting. Courses 1 and 2 run in spring; Courses 3 and 4 run in fall.

Micro-endorsement pathway. Candidates actively enrolled in the endorsement program who complete Courses 1 and 2 (80 contact hours, 8 PLUs) and demonstrate mastery of Standards 1 through 4 may be recommended for the Foundations of Artificial Intelligence in Education Micro-Endorsement under Rule 505-3-.114(4)(b). The full endorsement requires all four courses, verified mastery of Standards 1 through 10, completed field and leadership requirements, and certificate eligibility.

Course 1

Key assessment: Responsible Use Audit.

Course 3

Artificial Intelligence for Instructional Practice

Develops AI-supported instruction from learning goals and assessment through differentiation, materials, teaching, feedback, and data interpretation. Applied experience. Course 3 includes teaching a lesson or sequence from an AI-supported unit in the candidate’s classroom or an approved placement, assessed through submitted plans, materials, de-identified evidence, analysis, and reflection. Course 4 includes student AI learning and safety instruction, stakeholder communication, and professional learning for an appropriate audience. Education-adjacent candidates complete comparable applied work with real audiences in their professional settings.
