The Dyslexia Endorsement adds a specialized field to a Georgia teaching certificate you already hold. First District RESA runs it for educators across Southeast and Coastal Georgia.

What you’ll study
Course 1
Foundations of Literacy and Dyslexia
This course introduces the neurobiological, linguistic, and developmental foundations of reading and dyslexia. Educators will examine literacy acquisition processes, diverse reading profiles, and environmental factors affecting literacy.
Course 2
Assessment and Structured Literacy Instruction
This course prepares educators to administer, interpret, and apply literacy assessments to guide instruction. Candidates will learn the principles of structured literacy, emphasizing phonological awareness, decoding, and multisensory methods.
Course 3
Writing, Professional Practice, and Application
This final course prepares educators to support written expression and professional practices. It emphasizes research-based writing instruction, collaboration with specialists, and ethical service to students with dyslexia.
